Defensive Tactics 1 — control and compliance

Defensive Tactics 1 covers handcuffing techniques and arrest procedures, the responsible use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) pepper spray, and soft- and hard-hand control tactics.

Students seeking OC/pepper spray certification must be exposed to the agent. The hands-on curriculum also includes unarmed takedowns, come-alongs, wrist locks, defensive strikes, and disarming tactics.

Class length: four hours, 5:00–9:00 p.m.

Defensive Tactics 2 — impact weapons and Air Taser

Defensive Tactics 1 is a prerequisite for this course. Defensive Tactics 2 builds on the first class with straight, side-handle, and expandable impact weapon (baton) techniques. Certifications are issued for the type of impact weapon used.

Advanced Air Taser M-26 and X-26 tactics and use are also covered. Students must bring an impact weapon to attend; Air Tasers are available for training.

Each class runs for four hours, from 5:00–9:00 p.m.

Rescheduling, refunds, and support

Refund policy: If you cannot attend your assigned class, Arizona Guard Cards will reschedule you for the next available class. If you miss the rescheduled class, you are not eligible for a second reschedule and must pay full price. No refunds are available without 48 hours' notice, and no refunds are available once any online class is accessed.
