AVONDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Law enforcement surrounded a home in Avondale after investigators said the two people inside rammed two ICE officers’ car on Thursday morning.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, ICE officers tried to pull over a pickup truck driver and a passenger but they didn’t stop around 8 a.m.
The two suspects got to a neighborhood in the area of Litchfield and Lower Buckeye roads, where they rammed into the officers’ vehicle, DHS said. Doorbell video shows the incident, but with glare from the sun, it’s difficult to see.
The two ICE officers were taken to the hospital but should be released later on Thursday.
The pair then got out of their truck and ran into the house, where they wouldn’t come out. Just before 4:30 p.m., the FBI said all of the people were out of the house.
However, Charyln Flores, a woman who lives at the house, disputes what the feds say happened. She said the ICE officers were the ones who rammed her husband’s truck.
Flores said her husband and her uncle are the ones in custody. She said she was the one who came out first from the house with her baby with ICE officers all over the street.
Flores said ICE agents gave her the speakerphone, and she was the one talking to her husband and uncle on the loudspeaker, pleading with them to come outside.
She’s left wondering where they’re going to end up. “I love him. And then I’m going to fight to get him back with me or that I’m going to leave and be with him over there, wherever they take him. I don’t know where they’re going to leave him. I don’t know if they’re going to deport him or anything,” Flores said.
Flores did admit that her husband and his uncle did not have documentation to legally be here in the U.S., but they had work permits.
She also said her mother-in-law and brother-in-law were arrested and deported earlier this year.
The FBI said it has opened an assault on a federal officer case on the two suspects, and it’ll be up to the U.S. Attorney’s Office whether charges will be filed.

The City of Avondale, in partnership with the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA), will host “AI Meets Electronics Manufacturing Symposium” on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Avondale Visitor & Conference Center, 11490 W. Civic Center Drive, Avondale, AZ 85323.
This focused, one-day event will bring together engineers, innovators, and industry leaders to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming every stage of electronics manufacturing, from smarter PCB design to AI-driven fabrication and automated assembly.
“Avondale is proud to partner with SMTA to bring global innovation to our region,” said Jennifer Stein, Avondale’s director of Economic Development. “The convergence of AI and manufacturing is reshaping the industry, and this symposium offers a front-row seat to that transformation right here in Avondale, where we’re at the center of it all!”
The symposium follows a single-track format that connects the full lifecycle of a printed circuit board (PCB) through real-world insights, case studies, and practical applications of AI in electronics manufacturing.
This year’s topics include smarter PCB design, data-driven fabrication, AI-powered assembly and inspection, and emerging innovations like predictive maintenance and workforce automation. Attendees will benefit from expert panels, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities designed to spark collaboration across the global electronics supply chain.
As part of the symposium, SMTA and the City of Avondale have partnered with Estrella Mountain Community College, the University of Advancing Technology, and the Artificial Intelligence Venture Network (AIVN) to launch a Student Technology Challenge.

AVONDALE, AZ — Billy Moore Days, Avondale’s annual tradition, is back this year with four days of fun and new excitement!
“New this year, we've changed the shape of our festival, we're going to have some bigger-name headliners that we'll be bringing in to try, and just make it a more enjoyable event,” said Mark Foote, recreation manager for the city of Avondale, in an interview with ABC15. “We'll also have a couple of different sponsorship opportunities at the parade. We're going to be doing a sponsorship for a local charity that does a lot of work with the homeless and unhoused community, and mayors from across the West Valley will be participating in that activity right before the parade. At the festival, they'll be doing an event for a cornhole tournament for another nonprofit that's local here in Avondale, the Mercy House. And so, we're excited to be able to support those things and try and raise some funds for some really amazing local nonprofits here on the west side and here in Avondale.”
A key highlight of Billy Moore Days is its annual parade.
“We have lots of community organizations and nonprofits that participate, as well as a lot of city departments that create floats and parade fun, and we have candy and all sorts of things that will go down this area,” said Foote. “It’s really just a great opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate Avondale and the West Valley.”
New this year is the ‘Monster Smash Ball.’
“So, we have a bunch of softball teams that will be playing out at our Festival Fields Park, where the carnival and the festival are. So, in the morning, they'll be doing softball, and then in the evening, [the community can] come out and enjoy the festival and the carnival and all the activities there,” said Foote.

AVONDALE, AZ — Two people are in custody after they barricaded themselves inside a home after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement stop in Avondale on Thursday morning.
Officials with the Department of Homeland Security say around 8 a.m. ICE agents attempted to stop a vehicle in Avondale. The driver allegedly failed to stop and rammed into a vehicle with two ICE officers inside.
After the standoff, family of one of the men taken into custody told ABC15 that it was not her husband that rammed the agents, but it was the other way around.
On scene, law enforcement agents identified a white truck as being the one they say rammed into officers. ABC15's crew at the scene saw damage to both the front bumper and passenger side panel of the truck.
ABC15 obtained a doorbell video of the collision.

A person who was in contact with the barricaded individuals says ICE was attempting to serve a search warrant for a man who was already deported. ABC15 is working to confirm that information with DHS.
DHS says the driver and passenger barricaded themselves inside the residence after leaving their vehicle.
ICE requested assistance from local law enforcement.
The two ICE officers were taken to a hospital and are expected to be released without serious injury, according to DHS.
The FBI provided the following statement regarding the situation:
FBI Phoenix is on the scene in Avondale and has opened an Assault on a Federal Officer (AFO) case following this morning’s attempted vehicle stop by ICE officers whereby the target vehicle failed to stop, attempted to return to a residence and upon arrival at the residence rammed into an ICE vehicle occupied by two officers.
Following the AFO investigation in Avondale, the results will be turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office – District of Arizona, for a charging decision. The FBI was not part of the initial ICE/ERO law enforcement activity this morning.
On scene Thursday was the People First Project, which describes itself as a non-partisan, pro-democracy, non-profit organization.
The FBI allowed representatives from the People First Project onto the scene to help negotiate with the family still inside the home.
Clarissa Vail with People First Project says the group is now fundraising to help the legal defense fund for the family impacted.

“I would have shown up on my wedding day and there would just be no cake,” said Welsh.
“We would have been at our wedding with no wedding cake,” said Watson, who is breathing a sigh of relief Wednesday.
Panaderia La Central, a family-owned Avondale bakery, is stepping up after Watson and Welsh said Baker Wee Bakery let them down.
It abruptly closed due to insolvency and is not offering refunds for the orders they placed and paid for months ago.
“It really took such a negative experience and turned it so positive,” said Watson.
“Out of the kindness of their hearts reached out and decided to do this for two brides in distress, it really just means the world,” said Welsh.
Now, they share a special bond.
“She gave me inspiration from her cake that I’m now going to be using on mine, so I appreciate us meeting,” said Watson. “Yes, we’re both putting some glitter on our cakes,” replied Welsh.
It’s a happy ending just in time for their happily ever-afters.
“So grateful,” said Watson.
“It was just perfect, honestly. It’s really, really a blessing,” said Welsh.
“We’re ready for their weddings!” said Chavez.
