On Saturday, November 1, the Prescott Farmers Market’s (PFM) hours shift for the winter season. The market will continue to take place in the Dignity Health-YRMC parking lot at 900 Iron Springs Road. The market is a vibrant hub for the community, where farmers, artisans, and residents come together to celebrate and support local agriculture and small businesses. Nearly 50 vendors are expected to regularly attend the market this winter season.
Customers can find a variety of agricultural goods, all grown/raised within Arizona, with the majority coming from Yavapai County: fresh vegetables, mushrooms, nuts, dates, citrus, dried flowers, lavender, bread, eggs, grass-fed beef and poultry. Local farmers grow a variety of cold-hardy vegetables including leeks, beets, radishes, carrots, salad mix, parsnips, sunflower sprouts, spinach and kale.
PFM is a great place for Saturday brunch or lunch, offering a variety of ready-to-eat foods like tamales, tacos, shawarma, samosas, Korean BBQ, bagels and many baked goods, as well as coffee, kombucha and aguas frescas. PFM’s provides a list of scheduled vendors for any market day and special market events.

Fire Managers on the Chino Valley Ranger District plan to conduct a prescribed fire, in the Yolo Ranch area in the northwest part of the Prescott National Forest, Chino Valley Ranger District. If weather and fuel conditions are favorable, tentative plans are to begin the prescribed fire on October 28 and continue through October 31.
Expect smoke to be light and visible from multiple locations, including Prescott, Chino Valley, Paulden, and areas near I-40 and Seligman. As nighttime temperatures cool, smoke may linger in drainages and valleys. In the interest of safety when driving, slow down and turn on your headlights when you encounter smoke on the road, obey all traffic signs, and use caution when traveling in the vicinity of prescribed burns as firefighters and fire-related traffic will be in the area; no roads and/or trails will be closed during the prescribed burn.
All prescribed fire activity is dependent on the availability of personnel and equipment, weather, fuels, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov). In the interest of safety, forest visitors are reminded to obey all traffic signs, temporary road and trail closures, and use caution when traveling in the vicinity of prescribed burns as firefighters and fire-related traffic will be in the area.
Prescott National Forest’s land management strategy is centered on long-term forest health and reducing forest fuels. The Badgers are likely going to have to ramp up their offense significantly to avoid this home upset.

The Ranch/Walker Prescribed Burn is located ¼ mile south of Highway 69 adjacent to the Ranch of Prescott, southeast of Prescott; west and east of Walker Rd; north of Lynx Lake and the community of Walker; and west of Lynx Lake. Ignitions are likely for 3-4 days with resources remaining on scene to monitor and patrol in the days following the prescribed burn.
Trails in the Lynx Lake/Walker Rd., area should be avoided during prescribed fire operations for public and firefighter safety; trails include the following.
The public should use extra caution when driving on Walker Rd., immediately south of State Route 69 and north of Lynx Lake Recreation area for public and firefighter safety. Firefighters may be on or adjacent to the roadways during prescribed fire operations.
The use of ground resources and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) are being used to meet the project objectives. Expect smoke impacts to be light to moderate and visible from multiple locations including Prescott, Prescott Valley, Dewey, and surrounding communities including Yavapai Hills, The Ranch of Prescott and the community of Walker. Prescott, Arizona is set to witness a significant addition to its hospitality landscape as a new 109-key AC Hotel prepares to open under the prestigious Marriott Bonvoy umbrella. Designed with a vision that blends frontier resilience with sophisticated modernity, the hotel will be located within the historic structure of Howey Hall—a four-story building originally constructed in 1876. This development marks a notable milestone for Prescott’s growing tourism and hospitality industry.
The upcoming AC Hotel in Prescott is being redeveloped from the historic Howey Hall. With its foundation steeped in the town’s 19th-century legacy, the building’s original structure is being meticulously reimagined to create a hotel experience that honors the past while embracing modern design standards. The transformation is being guided by the Dallas-based Pickard Design Studio, a female-owned firm known for its emphasis on timeless materiality and narrative-driven interiors.
The project draws direct influence from the aesthetic of the American Gilded West. Clean lines, natural materials and carefully selected artwork have been prioritized to create an authentic, grounded environment. The design direction intentionally avoids nostalgic or overly thematic interpretations, opting instead for refined storytelling through curated design elements that resonate with Prescott’s historical significance in Arizona.
The interior palette for the new AC Hotel has been developed around rich clay tones, warm neutrals and desert-inspired shades, with cooler accents adding balance and contrast. The objective is to craft a hotel experience that feels deeply rooted in place but also universally contemporary in style. According to the design concept, finishes will be selected for their durability and visual depth, while objects within the space will be curated to reflect a sense of personal story and regional character.
In the hotel’s public areas, distinctive features will include a lobby styled with velvet and leather seating, soft architectural edges and a central fireplace framed by a curved banquette. The fireplace will serve as an anchor point for a welcoming space filled with colorful, expressive artwork. Additional communal spaces such as a retail market and a kitchen will incorporate millwork leather, accent tiles, detailed ceiling treatments and textural wallcoverings.
Flexible meeting and pre-function areas are being designed with nano walls and bespoke carpeting, aiming to meet the needs of both business and leisure guests. A modern fitness center will also be included, along with a thoughtfully designed patio and pool deck outfitted with multiple seating areas and an outdoor fireplace for year-round relaxation.
The guestrooms at the AC Hotel in Prescott will follow what is described as the “Mediodía Scheme.” This design approach draws inspiration from the Spanish word for midday sun, resulting in interiors that evoke the warmth and vibrancy of Arizona’s desert environment. Earthy textures, sunlit hues and naturally inspired materials will dominate the rooms, offering a soothing yet invigorating ambiance.
The use of subdued lighting, tactile finishes and organic color schemes is expected to enhance the sense of place, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local environment while enjoying the elevated comfort associated with the AC Hotel brand under Marriott Bonvoy.
